Parent Letter Addressing School Closure

03/17/2020

Dear Parents,

In order to help students receiving Speech and Language services maintain their skills we have been practicing at school, we have developed a website with practice sheets and homework that can be practiced along with their other schoolwork. https://uintahspeech.wixsite.com/blog

For information about your specific students’ needs please contact your school’s Speech therapy department. Contact information is available on our website.

We encourage at least 5-10 minutes of practice for articulation and 15-20 minutes of practice for students with language goals each day. There will be a tracking calendar included on the website that we request you fill out and turn in. You may take a picture and email this to your child’s Speech Therapist.

Speech staff will be reaching out to you beginning Wednesday to give help and support for students. Please be patient as we will be contacting our students with the most significant needs first and this may take a few days. There is a possibility of providing teletherapy through Google Meet. We will let you know as this becomes available. Please be aware that Google Meet is an unsecured video format and we cannot guarantee the confidentiality of personal information.

Some schools will be using Google Classroom to make assignments for their speech homework. Have your student watch for new class assignments on Clever through the Google Classroom app.

We appreciate your support and help practicing with your students at home. We look forward to being able to work with your students again.

Thanks,

Uintah School District Speech, Language, and Hearing
